HutchFan
This favorite again: 11 hours ago, soulpope said: Beneath "Hells Bells" his finest Piano Trio recording ... Those two -- Hells Bells and Inc.1 -- are among Hicks' most exceptional outings, for sure. "Avojca" !!! I'd probably put one other Hicks trio record up there at the top of the heap as well: Edited January 14, 2021 by HutchFan
Rabshakeh
Anteloper - Tour Beats, Vol 1 (International Anthems, 2020) An interesting mix between acoustic trumpet and drums (Jaimie Branch and Jason Nazary) and electronic splicing. Now onto: Dexter Gordon - Tower of Power! (Prestige, 1969) I love how Barry Harris juggles the dual tenors. It might be my favourite performance of Harris'. The whole band just cooks, and he does great work holding it together and elevating it to the next level. jazzbo
Charles Mingus "Bremen 1964/1975" Sunnyside 4 cd set, disc 3 The opening disc of the 1975 show. Sound exceeding my expectations! Charles Mingus and his recordings were an early jazz fascination. In the last decade I have listened to his work less often, and I'm not sure why. But I can correct that. . . . Disc 1 Sonny Clark. . .sounding his most Bud Powell-like to me. I really like the sound of this edition. One of the better sounding RVGs for sure. Do you have the 2 CD "complete" version or the single CD?
