Jovino Santos Neto Quinteto "Por Causa de Voce/Because of You: A Birthday Celebration of Antonio Carlos Jobim" featuring Maucha Andet and Romero Lubambo

All I can say is everytime I play this cd I feel so much better. Beautiful music, excellent live recording. Swinging, real jazz feeling, excellent singing and playing.

Thanks for the recommendation - I will check this out. I heard Jovino Santos live in Hermeto Pascoal's group many years ago and he was great!

Yes, I have a number of his recordings and he's a master. I plan to listen to this solo piano one next:

All the volumes in this series are excellent.

Stefon Harris "The Grand Unification Theory" Blue Note cd

This one is one of my favorites of his. So much to enjoy here in arrangements, solos, engineering. Not a "let's just do a record" record--much thought and energy are put into play.

Miles Davis (and Gil Evans) "Porgy and Bess" Mobile Fidelity SACD

82179722006.jpg?20190211134150

New (to me) speaker cables in place and this disc is sounding killer for possibly the first time (I thought it sounded really good before but it's delivered better now).

Evans created threads of sound as no one else. This is one of those albums you can listen to for decades (I have) and still be swept away within (I have, I am).

What do you think of that one, Justin?  Looks very interesting.

I've been meaning to check out Dayna Stephens for years, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Also, any other Stephens recommendations welcomed. 🙂
