Rabshakeh Posted December 23, 2020 Report Posted December 23, 2020 (edited) The Frank Wright Quartet - Church Number Nine (Calumet, 1972) As with the other contemporaneous Frank Wright and Noah Howard albums, Bobby Few’s very melodic piano playing just makes this one zing. It’s the mixture of spicy and sweet that’s so great. Edited December 23, 2020 by Rabshakeh Quote

mikeweil Posted December 25, 2020 Report Posted December 25, 2020 (edited) Today I thought: The beauty of the music on the latter record was one of the things that consoled me in my late teens. Beauty is so important. Ayers' feeling for melody is unsurpassed on this - he turns This Guy's In Love With You into a marvellous cloud in a blue sky. And the most beautiful vibes sound ever.
