I barely know that music. Sounds like new turf (for me) for exploration. Thanks. Also, did you ever find out more about your LP? Is it the only one in existence? 5 minutes ago, soulpope said: A beauty .... No doubt. Quote

That is something! What a find! ... Not to mention, it's probably worth scads more than you paid for it. NP: Sonny Stitt and Don Patterson - Brothers-4 (Prestige, rec. 1969) Quote

Justin V Posted September 23, 2020 Report Posted September 23, 2020 This is a bittersweet listen. The last time I saw Larry Willis play, I talked to him and said that he should come back and do a solo concert. He said that we'd see what the future held. 4 months later, he passed away. Quote
Joe Posted September 23, 2020 Report Posted September 23, 2020 Most overlooked classic-era BN sesh? Most overlooked classic-era 2-tenor date? (There's also the Rouse-Quinichette date for Bethlehem, and the Booker Ervin-Bill Barron HOT LINE.) Quote
Justin V Posted September 23, 2020 Report Posted September 23, 2020 Weed was based out of Michigan for years before he passed away in 2018. I only saw him once, with bassist Tom Knific. This album dates from Weed's time in LA and was released on Vinny Golia's label. He is joined by Ken Filiano, Billy Mintz and Joe LaBarbera. Quote
