Gheorghe Posted August 4, 2020 Report Posted August 4, 2020 What a wonderful relaxed thing after some heavy days , now things start to calm down and this record really does relax me. Even my wife likes this version of "Am I Blue".... Quote
soulpope Posted August 4, 2020 Report Posted August 4, 2020 While thinking about favorite ECM recordings this one came to my mind .... : Quote

I'm spinning it right now in fact and... nope. I just think it sounds sloppy. Quote
mikeweil Posted August 4, 2020 Report Posted August 4, 2020 Lots of good music played here today! I pulled this from the mailbox today, it includes several "outtakes" that were not on the Dance Mania Legacy edition double CD. Quote

jcam_44 Posted August 5, 2020 Report Posted August 5, 2020 Kawashima Makoto - 枯葉 This is a very special 9 minutes of music Quote
HutchFan Posted August 5, 2020 Report Posted August 5, 2020 Now: LOVE it! Earlier this evening: This prompted by the ECM thread elsewhere on the board. 58 minutes ago, jcam_44 said: Kawashima Makoto - 枯葉 This is a very special 9 minutes of music What's the story there, jcam? Quote
HutchFan Posted August 5, 2020 Report Posted August 5, 2020 I've been listening to this over and over again lately, and it keeps growing in my estimation. I used to think that it was clearly an inferior record compared to Red Clay. Now... I'm not so sure. Quote

Not sure where, when this was recorded but it’s a powerful solo performance. I’ve seen Kawashima Makoto live and it’s a spiritual experience. Most of his releases are solo alto sax and on the shorter side but all very moving. Quote

Well, I can understand what you say, and I must admit that in the last 20 years I don´t think I spinned it more often than 3 times. My favourite Green Album is the previously unissued "Solid" with McCoy Tyner and Elvin Jones, but as I said, there are days when I have a Special mood, when I had a few bad days and am grateful that Things are ok again, and than I have those Beautiful voicings of "Am I Blue" in my mind. That intro really has a moving Quality. But you are Right, there are hundreds of other Blue Note Albums that are better….. Quote
