Peter Friedman Posted June 25, 2020 Report Posted June 25, 2020 Pulled this off the shelf to especially listen to pianist Wade Legge who plays on 3 tunes with Bags and Lucky Thompson, Wendell Marshall and Kenny Clarke Quote

Bluesnik Posted June 25, 2020 Report Posted June 25, 2020 What a nice set. Guitar, organ and Ike Quebec. Great! Well at least the first 8 tracks. But it's all organ combo with guitar. Different players, but it's all the same. Quote
Neal Pomea Posted June 25, 2020 Report Posted June 25, 2020 (edited) Great music! Haven't stopped playing if for days! Note that cd 3 didn't have metadata, at least for me. Had to enter all info for iTunes and burning it to flac on my hard drive. Edited June 25, 2020 by Neal Pomea adding text Quote

jazzbo Posted June 26, 2020 Report Posted June 26, 2020 (edited) One of my very favorite Brazilian jazz discs. Just so Brazilian. . . and so jazz. And for members of the secret international organization of Maucha Adnet afficianados this is essential. And I breezed through a shelf and saw this as a followup, which is an album I have definitely overlooked of late, and one that always impresses me: Monday Michiru "Soulception" . . . Fits in perfectly after the Da Fonseca. Wow, this is one of three or four Monday cds that every time I hear it I think "This is my favorite!" It's certainly A favorite. She is really on form here. jazzbo Posted June 26, 2020 Report Posted June 26, 2020 Last week and earlier this week I explored some Stefon Harris from my collection. When these came out I listened to them and thought they were cool, then I set them aside for a while and revisiting them I'm more impressed. Great sequencing for albums, great arrangement, nice blend of jazz and latin and funkrock in varying mixes. Very good engineering and mastering as well. And Harris plays in unexpected ways. Peter Friedman Posted June 26, 2020 Report Posted June 26, 2020 (edited) Cover is misleading. There is no harp on this CD. The trio is piano , guitar, and bass. Edited June 26, 2020 by Peter Friedman correction Quote
