What was his name? Where is the organ? My only musical claim to fame ancestor-wise is that I am a direct descendant of a bandmaster who served in the Union Army during the Civil War. No joke, his name was George Washington Rutter. He was from Uniontown, PA -- where I was born -- and he served in the 2nd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery, 10th Regiment. After the war, he returned to Uniontown and led the town brass band. It was called "Rutter's Band." I've even seen a photo of the band, taken in the 1880s. All of this info comes from Mom, who has taken up genealogical research as a hobby over the last few years. He name was David Tannenberg. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Tannenberg This organ is in Salem, NC. Restored this century. Our member Pete B was married in a Moravian chapel where there is a Tannenberg organ.

Justin V
Disc 5: Before the pandemic hit, a local bookstore got dozens of Duke CDs in. In the past, I bought dozens of discs from an estate collection there, many of which had been marked down to a dollar to clear room. Although the bargain price has since raised to $2, I wonder how much Duke is sitting on the shelves now, bargain or not. I may have to explore their curbside option. You cannot have too much Ellington. It's a mathematical impossibility.

My father literally wrote the book. https://www.amazon.com/Organs-America-life-David-Tannenberg/dp/B0006BRJS4/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Organs+for+America+William+H.+Armstrong&qid=1592499136&s=books&sr=1-1 I've heard several of these in person. My Mom and aunts were honored at the dedication ceremony for the rebuilt organ at Salem. Edited June 18, 2020 by jazzbo
