Gheorghe Posted May 15, 2020 Report Posted May 15, 2020 A very fine double CD of a latterday performance of Woody Shaw with a fantastic quartet with Geri Allen, Robert Hurst and Roy Brooks. A great deal of Monk, and just a wonderful live performance. Quote

kh1958 Posted May 16, 2020 Report Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) Delfeayo Marsalis and Uptown Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Party (Troubadour Jass) I needed a jazz party, and this joyous, rollicking, hard swinging recording, sounding exactly like the band sounds live, fit the bill. Justin V Posted May 16, 2020 Report Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) This is one of only two physical CDs I own of Braxton's music and I guess it is an oddball recording since he is on piano. Beyond that, I have downloads of New York, Fall 1974, Old Dogs and a boatload of (then-)free bootlegs from the early Tricentric days. I have heard a lot of out music since first downloading the bootlegs, so I should revisit the series. Heck, I haven't listened to Old Dogs. Edited May 17, 2020 by Justin V Quote
