Gheorghe
This is my favourite late 70´s Messengers record, I really loved that group with Valery Ponomarev, Dave Schnitter, Bobby Watson, James Williams , Dennis Irwing, and especially that fast version of "The Song is You" and the James Williams originals...... Not sure if the first Blakey group I saw had Ponomarev or Bill Hardman on trumpet but otherwise the lineup was the same. Bobby Watson very much featured as Musical Director. I need to get hold of vinyls of those Concords and kicking myself for passing in the past ! Edited May 1, 2020 by sidewinder

jazzbo
Lee Morgan "Charisma" Blue Note "24 bit by RVG" Japan LP Facsimile cd. The only gatefold LP facsimile cd in the series I believe. Lee, Jackie, Hank, Cedar, Paul and Billy. Great music. Followed by Freddie Hubbard "First Light" CTI/Legacy edition. Freddie keeps growing on me over the years. For a long time I thought he was a technical wiz but didn't quite feel his playing. That has slowly changed. I get a lot more satisfaction out of his albums now. Justin V
Although Steve Davis and Eric McPherson have since become well-known, pianist Alan Jay Palmer, trumpeter Raymond Williams and bassist Phil Bowler also do good work here. jazzbo
Wanted to go out of my listening week with a bang (usually don't get much time in on the weekend) so. . . Cannonball Adderley Quintet "In San Francisco" Keepnews Collection cd. Very lively sound and great playing! Followed by Miles Davis "Four+More" Mobile Fidelity SACD. Timeless music. I've bought this and owned this too many times. . . LPs, cassettes, domestic and Japanese cds, and this SACD just slays all i've had before. BOOM. Great sound. And those Tony Williams drum solos!
