Д.Д. Posted April 25, 2020 Report Posted April 25, 2020 Inspired by the solo Peter Herbert concert I saw in live streaming (sort of, due to unstable connection) earlier today I listened to this one (has Peter Herbert as a sideman): Woody Shaw with Tone Jansa Quartet (on Timeless). Such an excellent work. Good original tunes. One of the best records with Woody Shaw, IMO. This one, as well as Dr. Chi by the same group.     Quote

Justin V Posted April 26, 2020 Report Posted April 26, 2020 The Roy Hargrove sextet on the Blue Note's Patreon page, with Larry Willis, Sherman Irby, Frank Lacy, Gerald Cannon and Willie Jones III. It's still tough to listen to Hargrove and Willis for me.  Quote

This would have been most welcome in the thread "late 40´s " also in this Forum. Thanks for the heads up about that thread. Hopefully soon I'll have more time as well. Quote

Д.Д. Posted April 26, 2020 Report Posted April 26, 2020 Hal Singer is excellent on this one. The man is 100 already (was 90 when this album was recorded)! Murray is doing his thing, boring. But Singer is the man!  Quote
