So many famous tenorsaxophonists did their obligatory Bossa Nova Album in the first half of the 60´s. Also on Blue Note: Charlie Rouse did his only Album "Bossa Nova Bacchanal" which is a lesser known Album...... Edited March 12, 2020 by Gheorghe Quote
JSngry Posted March 12, 2020 Author Report Posted March 12, 2020 Seems pretty much essential listening for those so inclined, especially the earliest tracks. Quote

Of course, the band playing so freaking together in every way helps that along, but yeah, that's a good record to listen to! Quote

The right collection of NY studio cats of that era on the right day could really do it. Esprit de corps. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 12, 2020 Report Posted March 12, 2020 Visited my Dad today. Had to answer questions about my travels and health and have my temperature taken just to get past the lobby of his assisted-living place. Sigh. It's going to be an interesting few years. . . . Listened to two different piano trios today, both excellent, but very different. First the David Hazeltine Trio "The Jobim Songbook in New York" Cheesy SACD. Then Randy Weston Trio, "Piano a la Mode" Jubilee Records Japan cd. Quote

Somehow I hesitated to buy it, I think I was not sure wether it had an original BN cataloge number and I thought it might be "a sampler". But now as I see it´s Cecil Payne on it, that ´s interesting. I dont think Cecil Payne made many recording dates for BN. Quote
