sidewinder Posted November 25, 2019 Report Posted November 25, 2019 A shop over here called Habitat were even at one time selling box framed art of this sleeve art for a relative pittance. I’ve got one sat in my lounge. Quote
Gheorghe Posted November 25, 2019 Report Posted November 25, 2019 From the post 1973 live double albums of Miles´ Group I like this most. It was a great group, the one with Dave Liebman Quote
HutchFan Posted November 25, 2019 Report Posted November 25, 2019 (edited) The vibe (no pun intended) of this record reminds me of Jimmy Giuffre's trio with Paul Bley & Steve Swallow. Different instrumentation, of course -- although both trios featured clarinet. More importantly, I think they share a similar approach to composing & improvising. A sort of quiet avant-garde-ism. Candido brings something a little different to the table. 18 minutes ago, sidewinder said: I've never heard that ^ Nucleus record. ... I'm still eyeing the Torrid Zone set. I've been hesitant to spring for it because I already have some of the music on BGO reissues. Decisions, decisions. Ah, the "difficulties" of a jazz collector's life! Quote
sidewinder Posted November 25, 2019 Report Posted November 25, 2019 ‘Torrid Zone’ is definitely recommended on the basis of the mastering alone. I have quite a few of them on vinyl and it is so good that this set is the ‘go to’. Can’t ask for more than that ! Quote
soulpope Posted November 25, 2019 Report Posted November 25, 2019 Before .... : One of the (actually not so few) SteepleChase prodigies .... Quote
HutchFan Posted November 25, 2019 Report Posted November 25, 2019 Features some solid sax work by Dave Hubbard & Ronnie Cuber. Quote
