Listened to the first disc of the cd version of Nat King Cole "Hittin' the Ramp" which arrived yesterday. Very good sound: clear and dynamic, excellent restoration and mastering of this vintage material. Nice booklet as well. Recommended for Cole fanatics.

... which I also have. McMillan acknowledges Perchard's work, but says there is still scope for a second biography. 

Tom Perchard, incidentally, posts here occasionally under the name of Umum Cypher and kindly acknowledged my thanks after I'd read his book.

P.S. I wonder if either author ever saw Lee play. I did!!!
