duaneiac Posted September 10, 2019 Report Posted September 10, 2019 (edited) According to Google Maps street view, the former home of Prestige Records (203 S. Washington Ave., Bergenfield, NJ) is apparently now the parking lot for a dental practice. If said dentist played this kind of music in her/his office, I'd actually look forward to going there. HutchFan Posted September 10, 2019 Report Posted September 10, 2019 Leon Parker - Awakening (Columbia, 1998) From a time -- not that long ago -- when the "major labels" were still playing in the jazz sandbox, releasing interesting music. Quote

HutchFan Posted September 11, 2019 Report Posted September 11, 2019 Just now noticing some times on this CD that Lewis Nash plays with an uncanny similarity to Connie Kay. A nice tip of the cap. Quote

jazzbo Posted September 11, 2019 Report Posted September 11, 2019 Listening again to Hank Mobley "Workout" Blue Note Japan RVG LP facsimile cd. Listening yesterday led me to remember how often my best and oldest friend and I listened to this in the early 'nineties and marveled at the music and the sound. That's what I love about the quality of my system--I can instantly connect to memories and the music, the better the system becomes the deeper and faster the connection. Reminding me yes, I'm an audiophile, but I really am driven by music. I don't know what I would do without music in my life. I'd be someone completely different, that's certain. .. . Quote
JSngry Posted September 11, 2019 Author Report Posted September 11, 2019 A masterpiece, no doubt! Quote

jazzbo Posted September 11, 2019 Report Posted September 11, 2019 Another Japanese RVG, Kenny Dorham "Whistle Stop" Quite an interesting session, and KD and Mobley always sound good together, with a long history of playing side by side. Followed by Joe Henderson "Mode for Joe" Blue Note, US RVG cd this time. Quote
