Justin V
Dino Saluzzi/Anthony Cox/David Friedman - Rios: This is far better than AllMusic's lukewarm review.

mikeweil
I got this for one track - the solo piano version of Tenderly recorded for MGM. But the sound of most tracks is rather muffled, the remasterings of other tracks I already have is audibly better on other CDs.

jazzbo
Yesterday DHL dropped off a box I have been waiting for, over 20 of this month's releases from Blue Note Japan of their 80th Anniversary cd reissues. I really like this series, I think they sound good and with a few tweaks to the system they really shine. Yesterday and today so far I've listened to: Grachan Moncur III "Evolution" Lou Donaldson "Sunny Side UP" Stanley Turrentine "Live at Minton's Vol. 1" Cliff Jordan "Cliff Craft" "John Jenkins / Kenny Burrell" I'm going to have a lot of the earlier US reissues to sell. Which will help pay for these!

jazzbo
Last one today, it's too hot upstairs. Big John Patton, "Got A Good Thing Goin'" 80th Anniversary reissue cd from Blue Note Japan. I like the alternate cover too. Justin V
Phil Ranelin - The Time Is Now!: Ranelin still sounds great at 80 and told some of the stories behind the music. I chatted a bit with his niece and her husband. She sang on a recording of Ranelin's when she was 6. Ranelin signed my copy of Vibes from the Tribe afterward. It was a good night.
