felser Posted June 7, 2019 Report Posted June 7, 2019 Quite an interesting album, stays true to both Adams and ECM, a good trick. Not a half-bad rhythm section, and Kenny Wheeler on board. Not otherwise familiar with Sauer, but he acquits himself just fine. Quote

Justin V Posted June 8, 2019 Report Posted June 8, 2019 I just finished the wonderful Roy Haynes sextet date, which led me to Henri Renaud's all-star date. With many recent purchases and some more on the horizon, I still plan on spending more time revisiting this box that I purchased back in 2014. Quote

Justin V Posted June 8, 2019 Report Posted June 8, 2019 Earl Bostic - The EP Collection: I bought this for $1 a few years ago and ripped it yesterday. I don't know if I listened to it before yesterday. Bostic reminds me a lot of Brotzmann with the huge sound, growl and vibrato. I know Brotzmann was inspired by Hawkins, but I wonder if he ever dug Bostic.
