She stopped eating and drinking two days ago, and we made an appointment with the vet’s for a probable termination for 11:00 a.m. and true to her self-determined nature she decided to pass away peacefully in her dog bed at 9:30 a.m. She was a BIG part of my life, I’m really going to miss her, but we gave her a full life and she did not seem in pain, just drifted away. She was such a character! I miss her already. Expand Sorry to hear about Fiona. She sounds like a great dog. Quote

She was a rascal Kevin; we "rescued" her about nine years ago of an unknown age, probably five or six, and at first would do things like steal a steak off Lucinda's plate, disappear under the house and refuse to come out until she felt like it, crawl into pipes and hollow trees --got stuck in one of those-- after moles or mice. . . she finally mellowed with age and became a couch potato welded to my hip or in my arms. It will be a big adjustment but we were prepared for this. Six months or more of blindness and deafness is a big cross for her to bear and adjust to, and a big effort for us (mostly me) to manage. I'm glad she's resting in peace. . . and as a benefit I will be sleeping better as well. Edited April 15 by jazzbo Quote

For some reason the mentions of her in your posts always brought a smile to my face. A great companion departed, but on her own terms, and I hope your memories of all those hours together bring some solace. And what a great musical tribute to her too. An album I only recently discovered (I know) due to your enthusiasm for it here. Edited April 15 by mjazzg Quote
