Wow. Same here, but somehow once when I had a period of non playing, I bought too many CDs and I think you listen to them once but forget them. What I listen sometimes if the Donald Byrd, also with Pepper Adams live at the Half Note. 22 hours ago, ghost of miles said: Must be good stuff. As a kid of the generation of musicians like Sun Ra, and other leading musicians of the 60´s /70´s I had never heard about Fletcher Henderson until I saw Sun Ra live, including some Fletcher Henderson tunes I I like it very much. So lately I think I have listened to some of the original versions on youtube. Quote

This is one of the best of the series so far (5 more to listen to) Up till now none of the releases in these series has disappointed but it’s a lot of music to digest. RYM gives a pretty accurate rating of the separate releases so you could use that to decide which volume you might pick if you don’t want all the volumes. Sounds sweet. Can't help but notice that awesome set up you have. Sweetness! Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Danny D'Imperio - 1st Jazz Gala 1978 (disc 1). Live at the Rum Keg Lounge in the Howard Johnson Hotel in Cortland, NY. With Frank Moser on alto, Nick Brignola on bari, Barry Keiner on piano, Carlos Laguana on bass & Danny on drums. This is smokin' stuff that Danny recorded for his own enjoyment. He sent me CD-Rs of several of these Jazz Gala concerts (two from '78 & one from '79). Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago Now playing - Tor Lundvall - Beautiful Illusions (Dais Records). Sometimes I just like to have sounds wash over me as I work on a more-troublesome computer. As I fight with an old Dell laptop that I'm trying to get Ubuntu to load onto, this ambient music washes over me and keeps me from tossing the thing out the window. Quote

jazzbo Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago I have all those Bud Freeman Chronogical Classics--great music! “Bill Evans in England” Resonance Records 2 cd set, disc 1 I haven’t played this one in a while, and as a new RSD release (I go for the cd that comes out usually a week afterwards) is due, it seemed a good pick to start this cold morning (snow on the ground again!) I see a Bill Evans recording and get a sense I know it. . . and each time I do listen I find surprises, big and little, in the performance, arrangement, sound. . . a great thing. Especially it seems lately as the system shines so brightly. Quote
