Sonny Stitt: Prestige First Sessions Vol. 2. Prestige PRCD-24115-2 [US 1992]

I only saw Art Blakey and Duke Jordan live ...

I never saw Duke Jordan, maybe he did not travel Austria or România, my two options.

But I don´t have this LP.

But if you are hip to Stitt-Ammons I think I had bought something in my youth that was Stitt-Ammons live at Birdland, a broadcast or something, maybe a Bob Rose off the air recording, and it also had Art Blakey, maybe Gene Ramey on bass and for sure Tadd Dameron on piano, I remember this because Tadd has such a fine piano style. It must have been two extended standards. Maybe "The way you look tonight" and another of that kind of songs.....

Maybe this is from those huge collection Boris Rose made ? Broadcast and so on.

But I am sure that the cover photo of Bud is not from that time. I assume it is from the Raymond Ross shootings from Bud´s last session in his live, for Bernhard Stollman´s ESP label.

Those Milestone albums were a gas. They had a leading role when I was at high school.

From Ron Carter I only have "Parade" which I love.

Is Patrău (I can´t type that "A" with that line above it, I have romanian tastatura) similar. I mean I love "Parade" since it has great players on it......there was a slow waltz on it, that even my mother in law liked !

Duke Jordan (p) was in Göttingen with Wilbur Little (b) and Dannie Richmond (dr) presenting this LP:

I always want to like this more than I do. Just sounds a bit too restrained, not like when I saw a similar line-up at Oto.

I saw an expanded edition of the AOC too, at Big Ears in 2019. Obviously very different from the original lineup, but an interesting performance. Roscoe and Moye participated in the presentation.

Now playing:

Kenny Barron Ensemble - Table For Two

My copy just came in. I haven't spun it yet nor perused the cookbook, but I hope to in the next few days. I'm the cook of the house for the next few weeks/months as my wife recuperates from surgery so I'm hoping there's an interesting (and easy) recipe in here. :)

Now spinning - David Weiss Sextet - Auteur (Origin). David with a killer band of Myron Walden, Nicole Glover, David Bryant, Eric Wheeler & E.J. Strickland. Really enjoying the playing on this. Strickland is quite the drummer, with fun little accents here & there. I'm a bit bummed that I missed this band when they played at Scullers a little while back, but I had previous commitments. I hear it was a good show.

Agree that Auteur is excellent.
