Gheorghe Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago One of my favourite tenor players here in Austria is Ray Aichinger, who´s sound is quite similar to Hank Mobley´s. I always enjoy to hear him live and this is his latest album. Most of the tunes are originals by himself and by the Brooklyn born trumpet player Mark Osterer, really catchy tunes, most of them boogaloo. My favourites here is "Old Man and Seagull", "Oide Donau" (Old Danube), and the wonderful fast samba "Flight of the Tucan"....... Quote
Rabshakeh Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Nir Felder - III A nice example of amiable populist guitar jazz that is pretty creative, recommended by someone on the board last night. Felder has some unique ideas. It feels a bit out of its own time, sadly. Quote

Somehow it has this sentimental edge for me, so, it feels very much like music made by someone who grew up in the 90s just like me.... Discovered him on the Smalls streaming page at some point in 2010 or so and have been following his activities aince Quote

It slots in nicely with the likes of Scofield or Metheny without sounding at all like them. Quote
