jazzbo Posted December 29, 2024 Report Posted December 29, 2024 Lately my old dachshund has let me sleep in a bit later which is welcome. It’s still warm here, which seems odd but welcome. I re-listened to six tracks of the Chet Baker cd “Late Night Jazz”–each track sounds so good, each so succinct and involving. Now onto a disc that arrived yesterday, Renee Rosnes “Crossing Paths” Smoke Sessions cd. . . .A very tightly arranged Brazilian jazz fusion. Like her recent releases excellent sound and playing. Includes several of my favorite singers from Brazil, Edu Lobo, Maucha Adnet and Joyce. I’ll be spinning this one often I think. Quote

mjzee Posted December 29, 2024 Report Posted December 29, 2024 Count Basie - Fancy Pants. Perhaps his last recorded album, definitely his last big band recording. So good. Lively, great arrangements, the band sounds integrated and together. Quote

Quasimado Posted December 30, 2024 Report Posted December 30, 2024 One of the best big band CDs I have heard in years. You can also see some of the same tracks tracks live on YouTube. Check out "Yes or No". 14 hours ago, Peter Friedman said: 👍 Quote
