Pim Posted December 1 Report Posted December 1 wow what a great record this is. I’d say it’s pretty unique in sound. The bonus track is definitely must have. Recorded pretty rough but must say it adds up to the dark atmosphere. Can’t go wrong with Daniel, Khan Jamal and Jerome Cooper. Quote

ghost of miles Posted December 1 Report Posted December 1 20 hours ago, HutchFan said: ghost, IIRC, the Tony Williams release, Spectrum: The Anthology, was also part of that series. But I'm not familiar with any other "Verve Chronicles" reissues. Thanks so much—I have that anthology and will dig it out. Seems as if perhaps Verve was testing the waters for a line of fusion-era releases? (Perhaps as a counterpart to the generally more-straightahead Take 2 series.) Quote

Instructive in various ways. The musical second side is good too I was just streaming. I don't really know the background. Quote

adh1907 Posted December 1 Report Posted December 1 Fôrça Bruta, Jorge Ben. An essential reissue from Dusty Groove. One of my favourite albums, every song a classic. 2 minutes ago, adh1907 said: Fôrça Bruta, Jorge Ben. An essential reissue from Dusty Groove. One of my favourite albums, every song a classic. Ps not into streaming, how am I going to cope as I about to sell my 20 year old Golf with CD player. This CD has been a constant favourite in the car. The punchy horns on Domenica sound perfect over a car stereo. Quote

Kinda disregarded it at the time, the song list seemed a bit redundant, randomly heard it about a decade ago and it seemed like a fresh progression, now wondering if I would enjoy revisiting yet again. Would go to Spotify but it's Sunday. Quote
