jazzbo
This was one of the only Carmen McRae I have not purchased . . . a sort of grail recording that I preferred to remain in the field to capture at some opportune time in the future. That time arrived last week when I saw this available pristine at the original price on release and I went for it. Arrived this afternoon and the wait was worth it. Carmen accompanying herself on the piano, a wondrous thing. jazzbo
Carmen McRae “Carmen McRae Alone: As Time Goes by / Live At The Dug” JVC XRCD24 Listening to this one again. It was worth the wait. As an XRCD24 the mastering is just right, and the performance is as intimate as you can get. I really enjoy these women jazz vocalists who can play and sing. . . and especially when in Carmen’s case she is so little recorded at the piano, this one is a real treat. I’m glad I saved this for a treat when I’ve come to really love Carmen.

HutchFan
Now playing: Lee Morgan - Live at the Lighthouse (Blue Note, 1971) I'm listening to a playlist that recreates the sequencing of the original 2-LP release. The crème de la crème. Edited November 21 by HutchFan
