Miles Davis “Volume 2” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD

I’ve always loved “Weirdo” (later to become “Walkin’” and then “Syd’s Ahead.”)

Oh yeah ! My wife says it sounds like that kind of music as key theme for an old police thriller series of the 60´s or early 70´s and it sure has something of it.

I live that album and I love the Coltrane stuff from 1965 on most of all, like the great "At Village Vanguard Again", the sheer impact of that music.
Here I was super fascinated by the sound of the two basses and the great drumming of Elvin.

Only two samples available, but I hope that there's more rhythmic variety
when the rest is released next month. The idea of a breathing string quartet
may be interesting in the end, but I'm, currently, being very guarded about it.

Sonora Ponceña - Sabor Sureño (Inca, 1974)

I just learned that Craft is reissuing this title. I will definitely be picking it up. :)

That's a band (and a period of that band) that could stand a multi-album collection!

Imagine a bustling taverna in the 1960s, where the air is thick with the scent of grilled lamb and ouzo,
but here, the soundtrack is reimagined by a time-traveling band who fuses the old-world charm of
rebetiko and laïkó with psychedelic grooves and Middle Eastern beats.
