Very good one!

Lou Donaldson's "The Scorpion" (actually an alternate take) is better than the issued take. John Patton's "Villiage Lee" (I think its real name is "Lite Hit") is also wild.  And the soulfully sentimental "You Want Me To Stop Lovin' You" composed by Walter Davis, Jr.

"Modern mainstream" big band, the type of record I usually am more than happy to ignore, but this one is consistently engaging. Expert writing, fresh (enough) ideas, and executions that speak to a deep understanding of the writing.

Recommended, actually, withe the caveat that no new ground is being broken. None. Rich soil, however, is being cultivated lovingly and responsibly.
