Chick Corea “Return to Forever” ECM LP

My original LP of this bought when it was a fresh recording. LOVE THIS MUSIC SO MUCH. The LP is a little beat, but it’s like a time portable for me.

Darren Barrett – The Attack Of Wren (2004)

First listen to this.

Generally, I am really glad that we are past era of neo-boppers 'shocking' the public by suddenly making records that Incorporated influences after 1958. I'm sure that Darren Barrett enjoyed hip hop, but he left school in the 80s and it doesn't sound like he had updated his knowledge of hip hop since then before releasing this. The amount of successful records in this bracket is vanishingly small.

After a summer trip in '73 - I think it was a percussion clinic - I came home and
discovered that the family dog had got hold of that record and chewed off a
giant portion of the corner of the cover. I remember being so upset. Yes, I've
bought multiple copies since, but I've always kept that very first copy for some
bizarro reason.

Now Playing:

I like this one.  It's sorta Jimmy Giuffre-like in its folksy quietness.

👍 for the Mingus; don't know the Lloyd.

Primary

Not much info supplied with this one, but it's good. Seems to be  the '58 Peacock Lane band with Harris, Hanna et al, and a later Herd, possibly '61,  predating the Philips recordings.
