Rabshakeh
Eero Koivistoinen Kvintetti & Sekstetti – Odysseus (1969) A great Finnish post bop record, despite the terrible front cover.

jazzbo
Paul Horn “Something Blue” HiFi Jazz/High Density Tape Transfer cdr. This version sounds a little nicer, a little more laid back, than the OJC cd Paul Horn - alto saxophone, flute, clarinet Emil Richards - vibraphone Paul Moer - piano Jimmy Bond - bass Billy Higgins - drums

Those disks spun again primarily to be reacquainted with ‘Mr Natural’. Reminded that that one is a bit meh, I don’t think the group lineup sounds fully happy and the McCartney cover is mundane, although Stanley does his best. The other two albums are fine - ‘Another Story’ is particularly good. It was for good reason I think that ‘Mr Natural’ was originally shelved. Can’t understand why it has been resurrected in the Tone Poet vinyl series. Edited July 18, 2023 by sidewinder

HutchFan
Last night and again this morning: Bill Evans - Half Moon Bay (Milestone, 2006) with Eddie Gomez and Marty Morell; recorded at The Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society, Half Moon Bay, CA in November 1973 It seems like Evans' trio with Gomez and Morell doesn't get nearly as much love as his trios with LaFaro & Motian or Johnson & LaBarbera. But I still think Gomez & Morell made a terrific unit. Consider: - The Tokyo Concert. - Since We Met and Re: Person I Knew from the Vanguard. - Blue in Green: The Concert in Canada. - This album. All damn good records, imo. Edited July 18, 2023 by HutchFan misspelled word
