Duke Ellington "Such Sweet Thunder" CBS France cd

This one has the right take for the Clark Terry phrase.

No fools these particular engineers be.

Sound is pretty good.

Milt Jackson "Brother Jim" Pablo cd

Drums – Mickey Roker
Guitar – Joe Pass (tracks: A4)
Piano – Cedar Walton
Producer – Norman Granz
Soprano Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone – Harold Vick, Jimmy Heath
Vibraphone – Milt Jackson

Recorded in New York City 1985

Looking out at the remaining autumn leaves this morning. . . this session has just the right vibe for the morning after Halloween. (Had about fifty trick or treaters last night, a record since I've lived here.)

Revisiting this because a local art cinema collective is screening the film this weekend. Nicely annotated by Doug Ramsey for the late-1990s Verve reissue.

I think the movie is better than the record. YMMV.
