Prompted by the Gertz and Gonz post above by @bresna:

Have you ever spun any of Gertz's self-produced/released LPs with Bergonzi? I think Gertz still has a bunch of sealed copies in his closet. I was able to buy a few from him years ago. He had these back then:

Con Brio - Con Brio (Not Fat Records 01-22)
Gonz - Uranian Undertow (Not Fat Records 02-22)
Jerry Bergonzi Quartet - Featuring Bruce Gertz (Not Fat Records 03-22)
Con Brio - The Ray (Not Fat Records 04-22)
Gonz - Caught in the Act! (Not Fat Records 06-22)

There was another one by Gonz called "The Front End", which Gertz also had, but I had found a copy of that at Stereo Jack's years before. That band, Gonz, was a great trio with Gertz & the late Bob Gullotti backing Jerry. I wish I had gotten a chance to see them live.

I haven't heard those.  Will have to keep an eye out for them.  :tup

The only other Gertz & Gonz album that I know is Red Handed on Double-Time.

John Coltrane "Blue Train--the Complete Masters" Blue Note Japan SHM-SACD

product image 1

This Japanese SHM-SACD sound pretty darned good. What might set it apart from a number of other issues is the stereo separation and the depth of the soundfield.

I guess those people read the liner notes instead of listening to the record.

Oh wait, yeah, the first CD issue of it was jacked up, not at all the original record except in partial part. THAT version should be panned, just because. But the OG record itself, I will go to the mat for THAT one.

Ditto. And a couple of the later cd reissues too. (I think I own 3 different versions-- and I'd go to the mat for all of them.

Is that the one with strings?

It's not the album Charlie Parker with Strings, but it does have some strings.

It's a big band record with Parker as more than featured soloist. Very Clef / Verve in style.
