Until recently, I didn't know that Washington's first name is pronounced DEE-nah.  I'd always assumed that it was DY-nah -- like Dinah Shore. 

Did everyone else know that except me?  I gotta believe that's a common mistake.

Returning to Tania Maria, "Bluesilian" cd. I can't help but smile at her verve and groove and her excellent pianism.

IMO, the "jazz-meets-classical" thing can easily go sideways and spin off into a dreaded ditch.  But it works here. 

I think it's because this trio uses these pieces as launching points for improvisation.  So it's really jazz -- not a hybrid.
