This is a very strong recording. All players unknown to me, other than the great Joe Farnsworth. But they all play very well. Lots of fire.  

 

Agree with you about lots of fire. A bit rough at the edges though (with the obvious exception of Farnsworth) and at c.28-30 we can't blame it on their youth when we remember what the giants of the past - who are such an influence on these guys - did in their early 20s.

Wow, so many lost albums. Record companies sure appear incompetent! (JK, I know the story behind this one and many--I think many of these should be retitled though).

I dig it.  It's a CD that I picked up a few years back when I went on a Jack Walrath kick.

It's nothing revolutionary -- however, it is exceptionally well-performed hardbop/postbop that pushes the envelope a little.  Also, Walrath's compositions are always interesting.

The Shabaka is surprisingly short (only about 28 mins) but very much a good listen. It’s got a serene mood about it, so could be situation specific.
