Vol. 2 and The Last From Lennie's to complete the set. When I was working on the liner notes for the latter CD, the label sent me the remaining unissued music from the date, which will never see the light of day. It included several rehearsals of "King David" and other tracks from the gig. Quote

I don't know Last From Lennie's but will take your advice on it. Quote
riddlemay Posted August 2, 2021 Report Posted August 2, 2021 The way this track builds is, to me, the apotheosis of Billy Byers and the Basie band. Quote

Rabshakeh Posted August 3, 2021 Report Posted August 3, 2021 (edited) John Lindberg Trio - Give and Take (Black Saint, 1982) I hadn't realised that, not only is there another George Lewis, but there is another John Lindberg Trio. In the latter case, it is a Swedish rockabilly combo that sometimes goes by "JLT". Edited August 3, 2021 by Rabshakeh Quote

I quite like the idea of the two trios being the same, George Lewis plays rockabilly! Quote
sidewinder Posted August 3, 2021 Report Posted August 3, 2021 A couple of excellent new Jazz In Britain releases. Quote
