Very ECM: lovely, stately tempos, pellucid. But there's some risk-taking here. Dare I say Guidi's playing reveals a slight Mal Waldron influence? I like his harmonic imagination, whatever the case.

Charlie Haden "The Montreal Tapes--Gonzalo Rubalcado" Verve cd

All these Montreal Tape releases are excellent. I may have to buy the Henderson one again--I can't seem to locate my copy. This piano trio is perhaps my favorite of the three piano trio releases in the series. . . but then I suspect I think that of each of the three when I play them. They are all excellent.

Disc 2 of 4.  I love the sound of Jo Stafford's voice.  While I would not consider her a "jazz singer", she did record this very boppish Dave Lambert number in 1949 --

I wish she had explored a little more along that pathway.

The Visconti remixed version. A great, influential  album and a delight to hear after a long absense.

I like this one best as well and was pleasantly surprised by Rubalcabas piano playing. I did not knew the guy… the version of Vignette is beautiful.
