Continuing on with the beautiful music of Tom Jobim. This is a 2 cd set of solo piano renditions of Jobim works, reverently and often sedately played as if this were Chopin or Satie. . .which is a very fitting treatment for this beautiful music. My listening companion Fiona the miniature red dachshund loves this.

Love that Blakey band with Bobby Watson and James Williams.

I included that LP in my 70s jazz survey. ;)

memories... most of these names you don't read too often... Pospiech was conducting the university big band where I studied (Bonn) so his name was often on posters around campus, Bartelt was my saxophone teacher in those years... and, of course, I remember Oliver Leicht concerts and so on...

Just heard the first track of the album and with Jeff Hamilton on drums and John Goldsby on bass they're really movin'. :tup

I owned that Pacific Jazz sampler back in the day. Long gone.

I still like it and the other one. both helped me to build my Pacific Jazz collection.
