From the late 70s but with a definite early AACM feel (lots bells / percussions etc, and good attention to dynamics). It's a double LP. I hadn't heard of Calypso's Smile but I'll check it out. The cover is... interesting. Quote

JSngry Posted May 22, 2020 Author Report Posted May 22, 2020 I was expecting a little bit higher of a notch, but still, not bad. Ted Dunbar plays really well on here, though. Quote

JSngry Posted May 22, 2020 Author Report Posted May 22, 2020 I'd like to think of this as a/the Sarah Lee of jazz records, you know, "Everybody doesn't like something, but nobody doesn't like Sarah Lee". Quote
jazzbo Posted May 22, 2020 Report Posted May 22, 2020 Alright, I was able to get through Lou. . . even had a bit of Lucy doing some mod dancing for me in the living room. . . . But I got an ixnay on further jazz so now it’s the Spectrum cable channel “Soundscapes” which is okay. . . the system stays on. Quote
