JSngry Posted April 19, 2020 Author Report Posted April 19, 2020 Well, yeah, it is pretty much what it looks like, but even if it is, it's still better than you might expect, like hearing Eddie Harris on "Street Life" is an unexpected jolt of pleasure, as is him playing the "sharky's theme". It's all very "Burt Reynolds" in the lyrics (where there are any", and very Pre-Condom Era in vibe, but you know, hey slice of that life is still a slice of life. Quote
Justin V Posted April 20, 2020 Report Posted April 20, 2020 (edited) Lafayette Harris, Jr. - Happy Together: Having ripped this and albums by Betty Carter and Jimmy Rushing, this seemed like a good album to follow Carter. So far, it is a strong trio album with a few vocal features for Moore. The title track is a cover of 'Happy Together' by The Turtles! Harris receives excellent support from Dwayne Dolphin and Cecil Brooks III.  EDIT: I see that Harris has a new album out with Peter Washington and Lewis Nash.
