Justin V Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 It had been a few years since I'd listened to this one. I couldn't locate my copy of Grant Green's Standards and saw a J.R. Monterose album. That led me to think of this one. With Hod O'Brien, Teddy Kotick and Tootie Heath, this one hits hard. Quote

Gheorghe Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 Two all time great albums with my favourite Charles Mingus involved. Money Jungle......extraordinary, it´s like if they would have re-invented Trio Jazz. And those compositions by Duke. For example, "Little Max"......that´s really COMPOSED FOR MAX ROACH, that´s how it sounds.  And of course "Massey Hall". Fantastic ! Quote

jazzbo Posted April 14, 2020 Report Posted April 14, 2020 Did my federal and state taxes and I'm trying to assuage the sting of writing two checks with some great music. Started with some lovely Dexter Gordon, the SACD of the Blue Note title "Dexter Calling" put out by Analogue Productions. And on to Billie Holiday "All or Nothing at All" the Verve sessions on Analogue Production SACD. These Verve titles done by Analogue Productions via Sterling Sound sound FANTASTIC. Quote
