Disc 7: I am finishing the second run through this set in the last two weeks.  This has to be one of my favorite discs of the set.  Half is a strings date with Russ Garcia's arrangements and the other half is a swinging quartet date with Ronnie Ball.

Working thru the Art Farmer BS/SN box, these records being ones that I've been either unfamiliar or under-impressed with. The recent Tommy Offer made it more that easy to get the bunch and engage.

So far...

Nice enough, but I doubt I'll be revisiting anytime soon.

This one, otoh, haha YES! Definitely getting another spin or two before EOD, and not just because Sahib Shihab is in top form here, he's not the only one!

Another excellent Muse compilation of 4 LPs on Camden.

The ‘Peruvian Blue’ album has an extremely early (1980) appearance by Steve Nelson.

The UK 2LP issue on RCA was called ‘Very Alive at Ronnie Scotts’. The Mosaic Single CD omits some of the band intro spiel at the end.

The High and Mighty Hawk - Wikipedia

Listening to this for the first time in a long time. How "modern" Hawkins sounds in his brilliant long solo on "Bird of Prey Blues"! Even double-tempo runs! Reminds me that back in the days when all music was on vinyl someone said that if you played a latter-day Hawk L P at 45 rpm, it sounded like Bird. Heard that one before?
