I went on a bit of a Freddie Redd kick last year and will be spinning some more of his albums soon.  I'm not sure what he is up to these days, but I hope he is doing well.

This is the one that remained in the shelves for decades, isn´t it ?

Well, fine Music, fine compositions, but IMHO not as good as the "Connection" and "Shades of Red". I don´t want to be too harsh, but somehow the Drummer does not really Appeal to me.

That's a nice one! :tup

Just started listening. I'm feeling the need for a piano!

Yes, Riley certainly has a unique sound on tenor. I enjoyed the recording more as it went along.

Freddie Redd - Everybody Loves a Winner: This is the album that kicked off a Redd spree last year.  The alto player, Curtis Peagler, was new to me and is joined in the potent horn section by Teddy Edwards and Phil Ranelin.    Trombone instead of trumpet to round out the sextet was an inspired choice, especially when Ranelin is the trombonist.

So exiting, such a wonderful set of live music at the Montmatre.

My CD copy has a bonus track "Confirmation".

About the longest track "Parker´s Mood", that´s really a down home slow blues at it´s best.
