StarThrower Posted March 9, 2017 Report Posted March 9, 2017 (edited) Fusion and progressive guitar junkies probably already have these albums, but they're now in a 12 disc box. https://www.burningshed.com/store/jazz/product/140/8565/ https://www.amazon.com/Man-Who-Changed-Guitar-Forever/dp/B01N5P4DLD/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1489087365&sr=1-1&keywords=allan+holdsworth+box Best price - importcds http://www.importcds.com/search?q=allan+holdsworth&mod=AP Edited March 9, 2017 by StarThrower Quote
xybert Posted March 9, 2017 Report Posted March 9, 2017 Bought most of them on SHM-CD last year (or the year before? time flies...). No regrets, it's excellent music. As a fusion fan, and an eighties fusion fan no less, i don't know how i managed to miss out on Holdsworth for so long. Quote
StarThrower Posted March 9, 2017 Author Report Posted March 9, 2017 I've got all of them except Flat Tire. And they left out All Night Wrong. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted February 24, 2018 Report Posted February 24, 2018 Just got a nice copy of this box off eBay last week (only $49!) - and enjoying the heck out of most of it so far (about 1/3rd of my way through). Other than Chad Wackerman's first solo album with Holdsworth ("40 Reasons" iirc, circa 1990) -- which I think was pretty much like one of Holdsworth's regular quartets -- this is actually my first time hearing anything with or by Holdsworth. Very interesting material. Liking the cuts with vocals more than I was expecting too, and might even try and assemble an 'all-vocals' CD-R comp from this box. The cuts with Jack Bruce especially, are reminding me to take a gander a that career-spanning Jack Bruce box I read about several years ago, made a mental note of, but haven't yet pursued. Quote

I got these as they came out and then bought the early ones on CD as they came out. I'm curious about any remastering. Allan was the master, no other like him. Much imitated, an influence on many...still a devastating loss. Edited March 1, 2018 by 7/4 Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 Really digging the tracks with the various male vocalists especially (I'm about halfway through the box so far). Quite a different animal (singing in this sort of context), than I think I've ever heard before. Left turns a plenty, all over the place. Very engaging material! Quote
