Scott Dolan Posted March 17, 2017 Author Report Posted March 17, 2017 Heh. Brother, you're going to have to work a lot harder than that if you want to troll me. Quote
Dmitry Posted March 17, 2017 Report Posted March 17, 2017 Not trolling. Just don't understand what you mean. That PF and SR have anything in common...don't hear any similarities, overt or otherwise. Quote
.:.impossible Posted March 19, 2017 Report Posted March 19, 2017 I've been listening to A Lazarus Taxon over the past couple days. Especially welcomed on this quiet, rainy morning. The first time I heard Tortoise was "djed" on the HEADZ compilation. It was not out of place, but different. I listen back to that collection now and there really wasn't all that much going on. Very static, laid-back aesthetic with almost no dynamics. The Tortoise track was almost the negative of that. This set connects back to that DJ and trip-hop culture, minimalism, 'seventies Miles Davis, Pygmy music, or krautrock on a track-by-track basis. Oftentimes, many of these disparate influences seem complimentary within a given track. Quote
