GA Russell Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 After 146 years, Ringling Bros. is closing The Greatest Show on Earth. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/01/15/ringling-bros-circus-plans-to-shut-down-greatest-show-on-earth-after-146-years.html Quote
JSngry Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 And I'm ok with that. Went when I as a kid, never took my kids, nor did they ever ask to go, even with being bombarded with TV ads every year. The marketplace speaks. Quote
sonnymax Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 Good riddance to The Cruelest Show On Earth. All animal circuses should be banned. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 Mixed feeelings on this, I love all things out of time, but I guess its time has come. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Never had any interest, as I'm one of those people who can't stand clowns. Red Skelton excepted. Quote

Red Skelton was a favorite of mine also.. I went to the Ringling Bros. Circus when I was very young - probably three or four - but I have no real memory of seeing it. My mother told me that I shook hands with Emmett Kelly, but I don't remember that either. Quote
gmonahan Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 I went when I was a kid, and took my grandsons to see the somewhat "reduced" show when it played here in Portland a couple of years ago. They enjoyed it. I do wonder what will happen to those amazing human performers without it. gregmo Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Return the animals to the wild Quote

Animals who have been born/raised in captivity may not intuitively know the essential skills needed to survive on their on in the wild. Hopefully, there are animal sanctuaries/preserves that can accept these animals and determine which ones would be likely to survive in the wild and which ones may need to be kept under some sort of human supervision/care. NIS Posted January 20, 2017 Report Posted January 20, 2017 The circus just moved into the White House. I know this is non-political but I had to say something bitter out loud today. Sorry. Quote

Nailed it. Returning captive bred animals to the wild would put them in grave danger. Quote
JSngry Posted January 20, 2017 Report Posted January 20, 2017 Kill the animals! Kill the clowns! Eat them all! But leave the cotton candy alone. That shit'll rot your teeth out. Quote
