BillF Posted December 10, 2016 Report Posted December 10, 2016 Brilliant! Or should I say tragic? Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted December 10, 2016 Report Posted December 10, 2016 If you look closely at the record label when the camera zooms in on the label and gives a clear picture of the label you can see a faint line in the paper of the label - as if there already was a hairline crack there that had run through the thickness of the paper too. . chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 do you know that peron. that is the guy who 20 yrs ago tole me he has a copy of the Monk broadcast w/ hank + art farmer Quote
mikeweil Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 not tragic, just careless. i'd wear white gloves etc. in such a situation. pretty dumb. Quote
BillF Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 Knowing Danny D'Imperio, isn't the whole thing set up? I was just waiting for it to happen. Quote
John Tapscott Posted December 12, 2016 Author Report Posted December 12, 2016 (edited) I was wondering about that as well. With Danny, you just never know and probably that's what he intends. I am not familiar enough with T-Bone Walker to know whether or not that was a very rare and treasured side. Edited December 12, 2016 by John Tapscott Quote
rostasi Posted December 12, 2016 Report Posted December 12, 2016 (edited) I've seen a copy online that sold for just over 10 bucks, but isn't a "Criterion" (whatever diff that presents), but even one of those is on eBay asking $55. Of course, it's probably not mint condition, but really? $500 being the "cheap" end? I can't help but see puns all over the titles of these two tunes! "I gotta break, baby!" (it's the rekkid talkin', man!) "Yup, it's just a mean, old world..." Edited December 12, 2016 by rostasi Quote

chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted December 13, 2016 Report Posted December 13, 2016 i tried emaling to the link on that...is that his site ? is he still alive? is he just some collector, i thought he was a musican or something at first. he claimed to me in an email 20 years ago that he has a copy of a reel to reel tape recorded of the TV set of Steve Allen tonight show 1957, in band consisting of leader Monk, Mobley, & Art Farmer. this has never surfaced it seems like drinking was involved and then he was handling 78s, isnt that a rookie mistake? i dont think when u go over to john tefttellers to see hes not pounding shots and then pullin it out to show u. hell to-the no! Michael Weiss Posted December 22, 2016 Report Posted December 22, 2016 (edited) I've had this for a while. I have the tenor credited as Teo Macero. Not that I would know what Teo Macero sounded like well enough to identify him, it surely ain't Hank. Edited December 22, 2016 by Michael Weiss Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted December 28, 2016 Report Posted December 28, 2016 (edited) was i correct on the other items then- steve allen show, monk, art farmer? 1957? have you ever heard of Hank playing with Monk at all before.
