The Duke Box 2 - Storyville, December 2016

Thanks Lon and Ubu. I got an update today, estimated shipping end of December/early January. I can live with that, don't mind waiting as long as i know it's actually coming (unlike with a certain recent Chick Corea reissue lol).

Storyville is up to there old tricks:  putting out a multi-CD 85 percent hat has been issued by them not all that long ago.  The serious collector is forced to re-purchase material he already has to get one CD of unissued material, that could have been issued separately which is what they did with the Art Tatum box set several years ago (which I did not buy) and their last Duke Ellington box which I found used and did purchase!

Some (admittedly few) collectors are young and happy to get these boxes. And some others are older but focused on other stuff ... we tend to cringe when others buy those cheapo euro pd reissues, but what do you tell them, "hop into a time machine and travel to 2000, add a short stop in 1988 when the Tyrone Washington was still in print"?

Tell 'em to skip the time machine (or at least save it for something better than going to record stores, yeah, get some badass fiberoptical internets and a 50 gazzilion terabyte hard drive, and then take control of their own collection - and then have money left over to direct entirely towards deserving product that is all about the good faith.
