Butterfield Live 1966

Anyone heard this?  I was thinking of getting the records store day version on vinylt 'cause it's got some extra, but it's $40, real money to me...

If it is the release on Real Gone, sound quality is supposed to be awful.

I love the track "East-West."  It sounds like the soundtrack for an American International exploitation film about LSD or Sunset Strip.

The sound is not awful--not great (better for Butterfield than for Bloomfield), but it is acceptable. If you've heard the two studio albums countless times, you have to get it, but I would get it on CD.

Assuming this is the Dustygroove-associated label (and not Real Gone Jazz or whatever that crapola cheapo label is called exactly).

It's a legitimate label--the one that partners with dustygroove in its jazz reissues. Also, it released the recent Herbie Mann Live at the Whiskey 1969.

Not accusing Real Gone of any illicit activity, just know what I have read in  some reviews about the sound quaility.  16 of 31 Amazon reviews give it 1-3 stars (out of 5), almost all based on the sound quaility, and even several of the 4 star ratings say the sound is really bad.  I'd want to at least hear some samples before plunking down my $14.  Great band, I'm sure the music holds up well apart from sound concerns.  On the Mann Whiskey set, fascinating stuff (some great, some not so much, but all of interest) and the sound is excellent,

I've heard this now on CD and LP.  The extras are the other guys singing, pretty weak.  The sound quality is poor, but not piss-poor.  Performance good, but no more than moments of greatness.  I'd probably recommend the leftovers from the first one (Original Lost Elecktra Session) ahead of this.
