Hardbopjazz Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 This was a great interview. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/tavissmiley/interviews/jazz-guitarist-kenny-burrell/ Quote

Jim R Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 Good interview, but sort of watered down for the masses in terms of the questions presented. I'm not sure I learned anything I didn't already know, but seeing KB get that kind of exposure can never be a bad thing. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted November 25, 2016 Report Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) Very great to see, and glad he's getting the chair at UCLA. You can never go wrong with Kenny, he was the first guitarist I heard as a kid besides George Benson. Always so tasty and reflective as a player, when I had the Fass debacle, he had mentioned that some of Kenny's early playing was "nervous", I never got or heard that at all, he mentioned "2 Guitars" as an example, but when I listened on YT I didn't hear that, early KB was quite fiery, but he always had taste. And that tone. Edited November 25, 2016 by CJ Shearn Quote

JSngry Posted November 25, 2016 Report Posted November 25, 2016 Tavis regularly has musicians of interest on his show. Worth checking your local listings, as they used to say. Quote

Milestones Posted November 25, 2016 Report Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) I enjoyed it a lot. I'm a big Kenny Burrell fan, and it was cool to see him on this show. Tavis loves his music, including jazz, but getting Burrell on the show...I'm simply impressed. Kenny Burrell is all about taste in his person and music, yet he is also one the greatest blues players on the planet. Edited November 25, 2016 by Milestones Quote
