Lazaro Vega Posted November 15, 2016 Report Posted November 15, 2016 November 15, 1971. Thelonious Monk ends an 8 week tour with the Giants of Jazz. During a 36 hour stop over in London, he records a solo and trio session (with bassist Al McKibbon and drummer Art Blakey) for Black Lion Records. His first trio album in 15 years ends up being his final studio recording, and the entire date is a sort of summation of his career, from "My Melancholy Baby" to "Trinkle Tinkle." Please join Blue Lake Public Radio when we feature these historic recordings in the first part of each hour, 10 p.m. - 3 a.m. eastern, WBLV FM 90.3 / WBLU FM 88.9, www.bluelake.org/radio Quote
