Same here.

Same here.  Some of the ads impinging on the reading experience and the part where it occasionally makes me turn off my ad-blocker are annoying, but hasn't impacted my frequency of using  the site.

What are your problems with it? Other than site layout/construction, I've seen no major differences since I started using it many years ago.

How many is many? This site has undergone a drastic change since I first started watching it in 1998 and now I'm bombarded with ads. Like I said, imho the site has gone from being the very best of its type to the absolute worst

I'd say I've been using them since somewhere around 2000.

I guess if you're not happy with the product, get your money back and spend it elsewhere.

You disagree with me, ok, question was is there an alternative site............

For reviews, I don't think so.

For discographical information (releases by an artist and who played on what) try discogs.com.

I am using discogs.com a lot lately. AMG is all ads now and impossible to avoid. You go to click on a link or type in the search field and you'll find the ad will follow your mouse pointer.

They seem to have perfected the roll-over-mouse - launch-video technique but I've learned to keep the cursor on the periphery to avoid that. It's not perfect but I haven't been as frustrated with AMG as some people seem to be.

I kinda get along with it, but it does suck more and more. However, lately I exclusively search via google and then open a cached version of the site, as no matter if I add an exception to the installed adblocker, it will tell me to get rid of the adblocker again and again (sometimes it works, most of the times not, so I head I just head straight for cached sites). Like that you cannot look up discographies and releases really, but it's good enough to copy a cover url and to read the review if there's one.

A subscription to AMG is only $12/year, which removes the ads. A reasonable expense, IMO.

Agreed.  I use it every day, so well worth much more than that to me.  I'll look into that.

From Wikipedia:

The AMG consumer web properties AllMusic.com, AllMovie.com and AllGame.com were sold by Rovi in July 2013 to All Media Network, LLC. All Media Network, LLC. was formed by the original founders of SideReel.com and Ackrell Capital.

I don't remember when I started seeing the overly intrusive ads, but I'd bet they can ultimately be traced back to the sale of the site and the almost-inevitable desire of the new ownership to shake some revenue out of their new toy.

That's what I was thinking. I can afford $1/month. ;)
