kh1958 Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 This new release, on Dot Time, is rather fine, with Joe Bushkin on piano, Buck Clayton on trumpet, Milt Hinton on bass and Jo Jones on drums. The fidelity is excellent, recorded by classical violinist David Sarser, who brought his Ampex reel-to-reel to The Embers on 54th Street in 1952. Elegant performances of various standards; you are there. Quote
thirdtry Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 I read this is an unreleased session, but the tunes and run times look identical to the IAJRC CD "Buck Clayton Live at the Embers". Am I wrong or is this material the same as the earlier CD? Quote
kh1958 Posted October 8, 2016 Author Report Posted October 8, 2016 You appear to be correct--I pulled the Buck Clayton out and it sounds the same to me. Quote

JSngry Posted October 8, 2016 Report Posted October 8, 2016 What is the reason behind the label being named "Dot Time", anybody know? Quote
