l p Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 not listed in the Table of Contents at http://www.jazzdisco.org/ http://www.jazzdisco.org/billie-holiday/discography/ http://www.jazzdisco.org/kenny-burrell/discography/ http://www.jazzdisco.org/vi-redd/discography/ http://www.jazzdisco.org/ray-nance/discography/ http://www.jazzdisco.org/john-young/discography/ http://www.jazzdisco.org/barry-harris/discography/ and probably many others. do they have another Table of Contents that lists all the discographies? The Magnificent Goldberg Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 I've often wondered why the material seemed never to be getting bigger. How do you find this stuff? MG Quote
l p Posted September 7, 2016 Author Report Posted September 7, 2016 (edited) in each discography, on the right side of the page, there's a 'see also' section that lists other musicians. i was looking at this http://www.jazzdisco.org/charlie-parker-memorial-concert/discography/ happened to see vi redd's name on the right side in the 'see also' section, and realized that she wasn't in the main Table of Contents. then i just randomly chose a musician discography, and compared some of the names in the 'see also' section to the Table of Contents. the names in the 'see also' section change for each discography (maybe randomly generated). The Magnificent Goldberg Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 Bloomin' 'eck! Random discographies! The mind boggles. What WILL they think of next? MG Quote
jdw Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 I've stumbled across a couple other "hard to find" pages over the past couple years. Thanks for starting this thread - it's a great reminder. As usual with jazzdisco.org, one can't really rely on these being anywhere near 100% correct, or up to date. medjuck Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 I sent them a minor correction once. Never heard back and the correction wasn't made. Quote
king ubu Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 yeah, and those unlisted ones seem to be full of holes (going from experience, not from the ones listed above - but if stuff like regularly released Blue Note or Prestige albums are missing ...) maybe they're to be considered in progress (not sure there is any/much of that, don't visit the site often these days) Quote
mjzee Posted October 4, 2016 Report Posted October 4, 2016 It must be some sort of work in progress. The Doug Watkins discography has a total of two entries. Quote
Steve Gray Posted October 5, 2016 Report Posted October 5, 2016 They are "Leader" discographies I believe. Quote

Steve Gray Posted October 6, 2016 Report Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) I am only referring to the ones linked to in the first post of this thread and the Doug Watkins. Edited October 6, 2016 by Steve Gray Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted November 3, 2016 Report Posted November 3, 2016 If you edit your URL and type in a musician's name, if a discography exits it will bring you to the page. I just tried one and it worked. http://www.jazzdisco.org/charles-lloyd/ tried another. http://www.jazzdisco.org/george-coleman/ Quote
